A Greek Tragedy €¿

The turmoil in the "Hellenic Republic" has thwarted the strategy of European politicians and the worldwide finance markets for several years...

The rolling news at 8am today suggests, quite rightly in my view, that the Hellenic government needs to submit new proposals to the troika.... 

Rising from the ashes? 

A slow process of appying a new budget, I expect, and a greater willingness by the Greeks to clean up inadequate procedures... 

The Sunday night celebrations in Athens are a clear indication that "the Hellenic people" want to stay in the European family and they need time to balance the books and clean up the mess.... 

Europe without Greece?

I sincerely hope not! Europe, in particular ancient Greece, is the birthplace of Western culture. It played a predominant role in global affairs from the 15th century onwards...
